MACRA, or the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015, focuses on paying clinicians based on quality of care rather than volume. Through its development of the Quality Payment Program, or QPP, providers can focus on quality of care and making patients healthier. The QPP has providers participate in the Merit-based Incentive Payment System, or MIPS, to achieve these goals in their own practices. MIPS scores providers based on four categories and uses those scores to determine payment adjustments. The categories are Quality, Promoting Interoperability, Improvement Activities, and Cost.

Practices working to meet the program requirements will see smarter and better healthcare delivery. MIPS participants also experience enhanced preventative patient care, improved care delivery, and an increased bottom line.

With the number of insured patients continuously increasing, getting reimbursed for your care allows providers to treat more patients and increase revenue. The medical credentialing process enables providers to participate with insurance companies to submit claims and receive payments. In turn, it ensures providers are delivering the highest quality of care possible while maintaining the safety of patients.

Choosing the right billing partner has never been more important as practices transition from a fee-for-service model to a value-based payment structure. It is crucial to outsource to a partner who knows how your practice works and which procedure codes can net you optimal reimbursements.

Clinically driven RCM services can improve pay-at-first-pass rates and optimize revenue streams at the point of care while enhancing overall health management. By working with an external team of medical billing experts, your practice can experience maximized collections and revenue, allowing you to focus on what matters most: your patients.
